Why run for the municipal elections?
I presented myself to you for the first time in 2018. You granted me your trust, which allowed me to take on the responsibility of alderman. I thank you for that.
With this experience, my colleagues have asked me to lead our list for the upcoming municipal elections. My goal has been to form a list of people with varied skills, all united by the objective of working in the public interest.
This has been a success, and I am happy and proud to introduce our high-quality candidates, ready to collaborate and serve our community, as well as our program.
The drafting of this program was a collective effort. Rather than presenting a program made up of scattered ideas, it reflects our commitment to work together for the benefit of our municipality.
If you were to renew your trust in us, my role would be to guide our new candidates through my experience in management committees, and most importantly, in municipal executive matters. As the alderman of finance, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of municipal issues, which will enable me to effectively guide our team.
Additionally, my mission would be to encourage constructive debate within the council, as was the case within our list, to ensure the best ideas come forward.
Our priorities, of course, are to continue managing finances responsibly. We are the only municipality in Flanders without debt, while maintaining a tax rate 24% lower than the regional average (source: Belfius). This allows us to invest in our priorities, which you will find below.”**
This translation retains the original tone and structure, ensuring clarity while staying true to the intent of the original French text.
Priorities:
- Establish a network of dedicated cycling paths and restore our roads for all users: cyclists, pedestrians, people with reduced mobility, and motorists as well.
- Create community spaces: sports fields, toy libraries, agora spaces, facilities for youth groups, skate parks, pump tracks, outdoor fitness areas in Ban-Eik, etc.
- Prioritize the ecological transition, focusing on the insulation of all public and private buildings to offer a sustainable future for our children.
- Develop a new urban planning framework that supports a comprehensive vision for the development of our municipality.
Achievements within the scope of my expertise:
- Full repayment of the municipal debt
- Revitalization of activities at the sports field with the new football club
- Revision of all cadastral incomes for a fairer tax system
- Revision of the subsidy regulations for associations based on objective rather than nominative criteria
Implementation of an electronic counter for your administrative requests - Repurchase of the old town hall to turn it into a hospitality venue, as well as the two buildings on the Ban-Eik site
- Collaboration with the alderwoman of the environment for a complete overhaul of renovation subsidies
- Collaboration with our services and the alderwoman of associations to organize leisure activities: Big Jump, Easter Fun, family festivals, etc.
